Ashley Bratkin moved from Brampton, ON in the summer of 2009 to pursue her ambition to work as a Director in film. While studying Film Production in a 1-year intensive film program, Ashley’s attention to detail and passion for composition drew her to working as a freelance Production Designer upon graduating in 2010. During this time she also Directed a number of student works to continue honing her craft.

Having worked closely with Directors and Producers on two features and dozens of short films since, Ashley developed a solid understanding of what goes into creating a film. She felt it was time that she applied all she’d learned to a project of her own.

Ashley is proud to present, her return to Directing, “Enon."

Director Biography

A Note from the Director

It was exciting to bring this script to life. To watch as it grew and changed with the help of my amazing collaborators and crew. Intent on showing you a side of horror that is thought provoking, unusual, and bloody. Inspirations for the film include some of my personal favourites: Hellraiser, Silent Hill, and a mysterious sculpture that I like to call “Agony.”

When I first saw “Agony,” his screaming upturned face struck a chord in my chest that I could not ignore. I was captivated. I was struggling. The connection I felt to this piece was deep, like seeing my own agony reflected back at me. Painful and strikingly beautiful, this sculpture has continued to inspire me. I wanted to use my craft to illustrate its power and so, "Enon" was conceived.

I hope that "Enon" will invoke in audiences the emotions that drive us; desperation, loneliness, frustration, hope. Look beyond the madness of the man and you will see pieces of ourselves in his struggle to make a  connection and find meaning in his life.
